The Balloon

My life is like a hot-air balloon

preparing to take flight.
And to keep my spirit light,
I must drop the sandbags one by one
so I can near the sun.
With resistance next to none,
I ascend up to the highest height,
creating quite a sight
as I smile with pure delight!

The sandbags that once had weighed me down
no longer are of use,
so I choose to cut them loose.
And without such gross impediments,
I shed all false pretense
and regain my confidence.
Those distractions that used to seduce
and serve as an excuse
now impel me to produce.

At last, my balloon has taken wing!
And as I sail away,
all the clouds that once were gray
have converted into wisps of white
that reappear at night
and assist me on my flight.
So, no matter what the masses say,
I fly without delay
while divine light shows the way.
