Soul Sisters

Artwork courtesy of Joan Bontempo

Fashioning with clay, she is a “belle esprit,”

who’s making art that’s fey and flush with energy.

Lounging in her shay, she shared this thought with me:
“Plans get in the way of possibility.”

On that fateful day, her wise philosophy
had captured right away a truth eluding me….
If I cut away a small disparity,
then I’d have to say that Soul Sisters are we!

She prefers café; I only drink Chai tea;
we strive in our own way for flexibility.
Women of today of novel pedigree,
boredom brings dismay and drives us up a tree.

Though we’ve bills to pay, we need to feel carefree,
which causes us to bray against reality —
shunning the melee with no apology;
trusting day to day, we are where we should be!

Art is her gateway to setting Spirit free
by giving her the sway to be all she can be.
Music is the ray that lights a path for me;
feelings then give way to naked poetry.

Artisans at play in authenticity —
each with her own cachet, expressed distinctively.

Come whatever may, the both of us agree:
Plans get in the way of possibility!
