Where I’m Supposed To Be

I know I’m where I’m supposed to be,

but oh, how I miss the sea!

I long for the smell of the salty air
and the sight of that rugged shore;
the rosa rugosa that’s growing there
lends its heavenly fragrance and more….

The peonies vibrant, the grass so green,
and the cottages, warm and quaint;
the fiery colors that I have seen —
autumn hues only nature could paint!

But I’m aware that I must stay here;

this time, it is very clear.

The sky that’s above me enchants me so,
and the dry desert air’s my friend.
The life I have chosen has made me grow;
on myself, I have learned to depend.

The music surrounding me feeds my soul;
it inspires my creative flow.
Allowing myself to again be whole
was essential to letting fear go.

Though where I’m heading is still unknown,

I swear that I’m not alone.

Each step of the way, I can feel you near,
though unsure of the path I tread.
Whenever I’m frightened or shed a tear,
you affirm that I won’t be misled.

And even on days when I have no clue
as to whom I am meant to be,
I trust that I’ll learn what I’m here to do
whether living on sand or by sea.

Each moment I live to the nth degree,

I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be!
