Beyond This Mortal World

Another time, a distant place,

and each must wear a different face,
yet we often sense that there’s a trace
of sacred love and of a past
that nothing in this mortal world
ever can erase.

And though complexity is wound
in karmic threads that hold us bound,
an ecstatic joy can still resound
within the hearts of loving friends,
residing in this mortal world
as it spins around.

We recognized each other when
we felt the bond that we did then;
we were happy to connect again!
But one of us must exit first,
departing from this mortal world,
from our earthly den.

I’m sad to say goodbye, my friend.
But all my love, to you, I send
with assurance that, again, we’ll spend
more days together, rich and sweet,
when back into this mortal world
once more we descend.

We come to Earth and then retreat —
a process we will oft repeat
’til the day our journey is complete.
Then, with each other, we will merge
in space beyond this mortal world:
One and All will meet.
