Please send your inspiration my way,
though I don’t have the usual time today
to write what you tell me I should.
I assure you, it always has been understood
that the pact between us is blessed!
Your “thoughts” will continue to be expressed
’til the day you inform me I’m through
translating the truths from your eagle-eyed view,
whether worldly, humorous, or sage,
into rhyming words on a visible page.
And yet, if there is more I should do
in addition to writing “the news” for you,
I’m certain that I could adjust
to including whatever else you might entrust
to your counterpart in the flesh.
Again, I am willing to start afresh!
I will follow, though blind to the course,
if led by your wise, irresistible force,
but I pray that poetry ensues
with whatever new undertaking you choose.
I’m voicing this prayer through a rhythmic refrain
in hope of my path having more than one lane.
