She

She paved the path for me to walk;
she forged ahead
and walked her talk.
And when I acted in her stead,
she let it go,
so wise to see
that “younger sister” cannot know
to the same degree
how to let it be
until grown up and matured….

And yet, she didn’t dismiss
her affection for Little Sis,
so their love for each other endured!

She’s smart and lives to educate.
And when you err,
she’ll set you straight,
but often with a comic flair
that makes you smile.
She does it all
with dignity, a dash of style,
and the wherewithal
of a breaking ball
that makes you stay on your toes.

Although this ode isn’t grand,
it’s my hope that she’ll understand
that she’s loved so much more than she knows!
