Venusian Memories

Lilacs in bloom

and their heady perfume
awaken my memories
of romance with you….

In a land of green grass
and of skies greyish-blue,
the sand in the glass
signified an adieu
to the promise of pleasures
I’d hoped would be ours;
they’re now hidden like treasures
in sweet-smelling flowers.

Tempests at sea

stole my lover from me
and left me with memories
that haunt me today….

As I stand on the shore
under clouds thick and grey,
recalling the war
that once took you away,
in my psyche, I hunger
for what might have been;
now, I pray that we’re younger
when we meet again.

Even at night,

black contrasting with white
rekindled the memories
of what we once had….

In a world filled with hate,
in an era gone mad,
you served as my mate,
which the others forbad.
Though too early you perished,
you stayed in my heart;
so the love I once cherished
was known from the start.

Distance and time

(at the core of this rhyme),
upstaged by my memories,
dissolve in the dark….

By embracing my dreams,
on a trip, I embark,
where Spirit redeems
an intangible spark.
As for earth-bound Venusians:
To love is an art.
Time and space are illusions;
we’re never apart!
