Leave No Song Unsung

Passions burn inside of me.

Can I discern what needs to be
from what I fear
or long to appear
in the earthly world I see?

Stringent standards fenced me in.
The life I planned and what has been
are far apart
from dreams of my heart
that command me to begin.

The longings of the child I used to be
remain inside and demand to be set free.
They’ve ripened o’er the years from youthful yens
and now require that my human mind transcends
the limits that I set when I was young.
Great Spirit deems that I leave no song unsung!

Strong emotions hitched a ride

on human notions (and on pride).
They masked my role,
the path of my Soul;
true devotion’s now my guide.

How do I release the fear?
My mortal eye allows a tear
to flow, at last,
permitting the past
to untie its hold on HERE.

The longings of the child have been set free;
they meld and merge with the grown-up part of me.
The ripening of soul-based dreams and yens
expands my consciousness, and my goals, extends,
to break the limits set when I was young.
I know that, now, I will leave no song unsung!
