To Dance

When I was a wide-eyed young girl,

it was clear I desired to dance;
my mother provided that chance.
I then longed to sing and be seen —
be lauded like those on the silver screen.
If I were built for swimsuits and pants
like models in Seventeen Magazine,
I’d elicit more than a glance.
But Spirit had far-reaching plans….

Alongside those starry-eyed dreams,
admiration for those who heal
gave medical school an appeal,
yet I also wanted to teach.
I learned all I could and refined my speech.
Earning respect became my ideal;
the life I desired was within my reach….
And though Soul was helming the wheel,
my ego made other demands.

Through most of the years of my life,

misperceptions constrained my course.
Until reconnecting with Source,
I denied my talents and worth,
forgetting the knowing I’d had since birth.
Accessing Soul and free from remorse,
I started enjoying this stay on earth.
Now, the plans I’ve made, I enforce,
reweaving the disparate strands.

The tapestry forming remains to be seen,
but all of the elements are there.
In ways unexpected, life answers each prayer.

And whenever I get the chance,
I allow myself to dance!
