The Fruit Out on a Limb

From safe inside her leafy arms,

I see the fruit out on a limb,
enticing with its sensual charms.
My head begins to swim….

How dare I even contemplate
emerging from my hidden nest,
no matter what delights might await
by going on this quest!

What if I haven’t nerve enough
to brave the challenges in store?
But like a snake whose skin it must slough,
there’s wisdom in my core.

To attract what I deserve,

I first release what doesn’t serve.
And after crying grateful tears,
I trust enough to shed my fears.
Now, with strength to persevere,
my path’s becoming clear….

I can’t afford to dim my light

or hesitate in making known
my longing for what’s placed in my sight —
the seed that Soul has sown.

My past decisions brought me here,
the ones embraced and those denied.
By destined harvests (distant or near),
I’ll take what is supplied.

From fear of failure or success,
no longer will I hide away.
The fruit out on a limb, I’ll caress,
although the tree will sway!
