What do I write about today?
I really haven’t much to say
that I’ve not shared in verse before,
yet Clio cries, “There’s something more!”
“Speak of your fearing the unknown,
the times you feel you’re all alone,
the sureness that, no matter what,
some ties of old must now be cut.”
Wiser than I could ever be
about the past and poetry,
with Clio’s counsel as my guide,
from darkness, I no longer hide.
Rhythmic and rhyming words emerge;
with them, my demons, I can purge.
Although I’d rather serve through joy,
distress and angst, I now employ.
Yes, it is true that I’m unsure
of where to go, but I endure.
It’s moving forward that is key,
regardless of what used to be.
Though there are portals still ajar,
in turning back, each jagged scar
is all of which I’m then aware;
I must no longer focus there.
Forging ahead, it’s higher ground
that beckons me to where I’m bound.
Despite my ego’s great dismay,
I’m trusting Soul to point the way.
In choosing which way is best to go,
be blind to fear, and your heart will know
with certainty what’s clear from above:
the road that’s strewn with fulfillment and love.
