There’s a companion by your side;
it’s one from which you cannot hide
no matter how you try.
Although its presence turns the tide
(and sometimes leaves you mystified),
it seldom tells you why
what manifests, for you, is best,
regardless if you pass the test
and gracefully say goodbye
to what is better laid to rest.
I wonder if you’ve guessed
what’s yet to be expressed
in a single word (although inferred) —
the subject that this poet has addressed….
The companion bound to humankind is change!
Meant as a force to overthrow
the limitations humans sow
(when we don’t comprehend
that Spirit sent us here to grow),
to each of us, He did bestow
a wise and constant friend
who’s with us to the very end.
And though we can’t see round the bend
while wading through joy and woe,
on change, we always can depend.
To transcend this world’s illusions, welcome change!
