Message #10

Awareness of self via thought forms is a principal way that we as human beings come to our conception of who we are in the context of the world in which we are focused.  Beyond the everyday, mundane thoughts in which time and location combined with doing is the central theme, most other thoughts are repetitive and unhelpful.  We tend to replay in a seemingly endless loop past events in which pain or conflict is present as well as anxious ideas about what we imagine as probable future events.  The emotions that these thoughts elicit affect our physical body and lead in turn to our choice of actions and, in addition, more of the same in the way of thinking.  It feels to us that breaking this cycle of non-productive, painful thinking is nearly impossible, and we come to expect our minds to be occupied with similar thoughts, finding it a comforting validation of our existence.  We also identify ourselves with our thinking to such an extent that we believe that we ARE our thoughts.  Nothing could be further from the truth!  This is not to say that our thoughts have no power since thought does precede form (even though many of us maintain the opposite); however, belief in the truthfulness of every thought is the greatest lie that we tell ourselves.

Associating feelings with thought forms is how we become stuck in unpleasant and unhealthy emotional states for far longer than is necessary.  Emotions that are meant to pass through the human body in short bursts of clock time are most often held captive in form, sometimes for decades of our lives.  The perception that the bypassing of uncomfortable emotion is possible by resisting it as it moves through our physical self only serves to capture it.  We then keep that emotion alive indefinitely by attaching a story to it that repeats via the endless thought forms replaying in our mind.  Allowing for any human emotion to exist and be felt in our physical body without judgement, thereby having no need to attach a story to the emotion itself, eliminates most all of the unnecessary suffering that occurs as we walk our individual paths here on planet Earth.

The serenity and joy we seek outside of ourselves through our life situations are born of our connection to Soul and are found not in the human reasoning mind, but in the knowing that has nothing to do with intellect and thought.  God does not emerge through thought or action; God resides in stillness and knowing.  We imprison ourselves with our thoughts via judgement, holding fast to the dualistic nature of the earth plane.  Freedom is ours when we choose to disengage ourselves from our thought forms, which are not who we are in essence, as well as the stories that we tell ourselves and others.  Neither hold any validity in regard to our spiritual nature—the divine spark that is the origin of each human being.  While the personalities in which we are clothed as we walk on our chosen paths find intellectual satisfaction in the story of self that is spun via thought forms, the immortal Soul remains ever loving and eternally at peace in its union with Source.

Connect with Spirit through immersion in the NOW.  Be the loving and serene watcher of thoughts as they pass, knowing that you and thought are not one and the same.  Breath is the bridge between self and Source; life is the running river below.  By observing from the bridge, life is experienced as a never-ending, always-changing show of beauty and grace, and it flows with ease.  When we allow existence to be unimpeded by human thought, through which we judge its inherent nature as imperfect, life unfolds effortlessly, at one with All That Is.
