The pleasures of the human body are meant to be cherished and enjoyed. The ability to feel the air as it moves across the skin; our sense of smell, which allows us to inhale the fragrance of a flower, the aroma of bread as it bakes, or the clean, sweet smell of spring grass; the extraordinary sensations that arise when in the tender embrace of a lover: These are but a few of the rewards to human beings who walk upon planet Earth.
Why is it that we deny ourselves some of the expansive experiences of the flesh, somehow judging them as compromising our spiritual nature? How have a limited few caused an imprint on our collective soul that now responds with guilt and shame after enjoying to the fullest the pleasures of the physical form? No other creature on earth punishes itself for embracing the wholeness of its being! We, too, should embrace ALL of who we are while clothed in human skin, knowing that the joy elicited by the senses via the physical organism is as important a part of our journey as the contrasting experiences of sorrow and pain. Both the light and the dark are aspects of All That Is, and the different manifestations of these two opposing energies are equally ours to experience.
Internal conflicts arising as we move through our daily lives are simply another tool of Spirit that brings our attention to the true nature of the beliefs we have chosen. These beliefs are adopted by each of us as responses to our perceived experiences of life. A child’s perception of what is occurring around him/her would be judged by an adult as skewed or (oftentimes) entirely incorrect. Yet as adults, we hold onto beliefs established when we were children, allowing them to color our experiences and, at times, misguide us. Feelings that arise from the emotional body can indicate when a belief that we accept as truth is inhibiting our growth and disallowing us the joy that is meant to be ours. The many opportunities to reassess our current beliefs are brought about by Spirit through both the physical and emotional bodies, yet we judge our emotions to be faulty, certain physical sensations to be temptations of the flesh, and the intellectual urge to question what we believe to be a result of human arrogance.
We believe in the infallibility of certain leaders; we give more credence to the knowledge of those who we perceive as somehow more directly connected to Source than we could possibly be. If an idea or belief has been touted as truth for thousands of earth years, why should we question its validity? Who are we to presume to interpret our experience of life as more valid than the interpretation of other souls’ life experiences? Connection to Source is available to each of us, not only to a chosen few! Acceptance of the infinite ways in which Source expresses itself through each human being and creature manifest in this realm (as well as every living and inanimate part of the whole in the ever-expanding vibrational energies of our reality) is not needed in order for all to exist simultaneously as rightful and beloved aspects of Source manifest in form. Denial of our inherent worthiness to exist exactly as we are in the eternal NOW is a denial of Source itself and a result of fear-based perceptions forming beliefs untethered to the loving vibration of Spirit.
The infinite faces of God are, in actuality, God nonetheless. Any human belief tainted by fear that paints any expression of Source as less than or more than another of that same expression interferes with our inherent joyfulness. We are to embrace the joy that is always available, we are to shed the beliefs that separate us from our ever-present connection to Source, and while in human form, we are meant to delight in the pleasures of this third-dimensional realm. After all, though we are spiritual beings having a human experience, we are human beings, as well. “…All That Is persists despite what mortal man defines, no matter where we draw the lines we think we daren’t cross….”
