Connection. Faith. Love. Acceptance. The world in which we live reflects back to us what we believe and who we are at any given moment. When our minds are full of doubt, we perceive a world of confusing circumstances and indistinct choices, distorted by the filter of the lens through which we currently view our reality. Our perceptions can begin to alter our beliefs if we continue to view life through a hazy filter—one clouded by our personality’s less-than-optimal perspective. As we gain presence through acceptance of what is (despite the stories ego tells to distract us from our center), clarity is our lens of choice. Once we see clearly, we are in a state of allowance, and the choices we make can alter the circumstances that inform our worldview.
Which lens do you have in your View-Master today? Have you chosen a dimmer, darker lens, much like those found in an old pair of sunglasses? Yes, it keeps the light from blinding you to the source of potential illumination—the vast realm of possibility bathed in light—and your human eyes are protected from brilliance currently outside of your comfort zone. However, what your eyes behold through that lens is no more real than the view would be of a world seen through eyes unable to focus due to lack of strength—a component of a physical body not yet acclimated to the potentiality available to the mature and healthy human being. As our physical organism gains power and wisdom, the need for protection from the Light of Truth lessens. Our chosen lens then allows more light to enter without harming our eyes, and we come to find that the world’s hue is more rosy than before, even though the shapes and edges are sharper and more-defined. We no longer see through a lens darkly for we no longer fear the light and the clarity it brings.
The rosy hue of love is unavailable to us when we believe the fearful tales spun by ego to keep us from expanding our view, assuring us that what we see from our limited perspective is all there is or our only safe option. It is a familiar scene, so we are comfortable with (and often comforted by) the colorlessness and lack of definition. Our imagination remains unengaged since that would require effort on our part. Why rock the boat on which we currently ride when fear of the emotional waters surrounding us blinds us to what could be should we choose a broader lens through which to gaze? The ego tells us that there might be sea monsters to one side of us or we might then become aware of the distance between our current position and the shore. Why not blind ourselves to those truths in order to keep our ego from feeling threatened?
Ego’s non-stop commentary from its worldview of fear and limitation plants seeds of doubt in regard to our self-worth and capabilities. If we keep our vision small, then we are the king of our own tiny island; we are alone. When our perception is limited, the beauty and richness of other realms remain unknown and unexplored; safety in the eyes of ego is maintained. We remain blind to the bridges to infinite possibility that lie outside of the narrow reality to which we confine ourselves out of fear of change since we perceive change (through our current lens) as removing the known reality—painful and heavy as it may be—through which ego’s needs are met.
What is as defined by ego’s version of truth is no more real than any other perspective of what we call reality. There are many lenses from which to choose while inhabiting human form, and each of us chooses through which lens to look in every moment of the NOW. When your current view is not to your liking, all you need to do is choose another lens. At times, it’s as easy as elevating your vibration with a lighter thought, listening to a favorite song, dancing to the music in your mind, or saying “thank you.” Changing our perspective by tuning into another station broadcasting whatever it is that lifts us higher immediately gives us a wider view. And the clarity we gain, even though clouds may temporarily obscure the landscape of infinite possibility, is ours for the asking. We only need to realize that we are the answer we seek and the power is here and now. We need not fear the Light since who we really are is ever-attuned to the brilliance from which ego hides in its misguided attempt to stay safe and fixed.
Life is constantly flowing. The effort to remain the same both within and without causes suffering; the effortlessness of allowing the current of life to carry us in the infinite directions of possibility (contrary to egoic perception) is a wiser and easier choice. If you see limitations and a single possible direction through your current lens, allow connection, faith, love, and acceptance to adjust your lens, and your worldview expands immeasurably. It is only ignorance that keeps you blind to the Truth of your journey, and the choice to remain ignorant is yours. Choose instead to see the enlightened view of infinite possibility!
